Ali Bazzi

Dr. Ali Bazzi is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UConn. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Urbana, IL, USA, and the B.E. and M.E. degrees in electrical engineering from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon. He established the Advanced Power Electronics and Electric Drives Laboratory (APEDL)  at UCONN where he currently directs research in the areas of power electronics applications in motor drive systems, renewable energy systems (especially solar photovoltaics), and micro-grids. Since joining UCONN, he has established three new courses in the areas of electric machines, electric drives, and solar photovoltaic systems, revamped the power electronics course and lab with a new lab manual and experiments, and established an undergraduate course electric machines and drives with new experiments and lab manual. His interest is to increase energy awareness among high school students and their communities, with main focus on renewable energy systems. He is also an active participant with several outreach activities such as UCONN’s Open House, UCONN’s Mentor Connection, and Glastonbury HS Advanced Research Membership.
